In a departure from standard corporate confidentiality, artificial intelligence startup xAI has released the complete recording of a recent internal all-hands meeting. The company published the 45-minute video on the X social media platform on Wednesday, a move likely prompted by earlier media reports detailing the private gathering. The footage provides a comprehensive look at the company's strategic roadmap, revealing significant structural changes and ambitious long-term goals that extend well beyond terrestrial computing.

The presentation offered the first public confirmation of a significant internal reorganization that has resulted in the departure of several employees, including key members of the original founding team. Elon Musk addressed these exits directly, characterizing the workforce reduction as a necessary evolution of the company's operational structure rather than a sign of instability. He noted that as the organization scales rapidly, the internal hierarchy must adapt, a process that inevitably leads to personnel changes.

A New Four-Pillar Strategy

The meeting outlined a new operational framework that divides xAI into four distinct product and research verticals. This segmentation is designed to streamline development across the company's widening array of technologies:

• Grok and Voice: A dedicated team focused on the flagship chatbot and its conversational capabilities.
• Coding Systems: A division concentrated on programming assistance and software generation.
• Imagine: A creative unit responsible for the company's video and image generation models.
• Macrohard: An ambitious new initiative focused on complex computer usage and simulation.

The "Macrohard" project represents a significant expansion of scope. Toby Pohlen, who has been tapped to lead this division, explained that the system is being designed to execute any task a human can perform on a computer. The ultimate objective extends to high-level industrial applications, with Pohlen suggesting that the AI should eventually be capable of designing complex machinery, such as rocket engines, without human intervention.

Revenue Growth and Content Moderation Challenges

During the presentation, executives shared updated financial and engagement metrics for both xAI and the X platform. Nikita Bier, head of product at X, announced that the social network has surpassed $1 billion in annual recurring revenue driven by subscriptions. Management attributed this milestone to aggressive marketing campaigns executed during the recent holiday season.

The company also reported massive throughput for its generative media tools. Internal data indicates that the Imagine tool is currently producing approximately 50 million videos daily, alongside a staggering 6 billion images generated over the last month. However, these volume metrics coincide with a period of intense scrutiny regarding content moderation.

Industry observers have noted that this spike in engagement and generation volume overlaps with a proliferation of deepfake pornography on the platform. Reports indicate that millions of non-consensual explicit images were generated and circulated during the same timeframe, suggesting that a significant portion of the reported usage statistics may be derived from this controversial content. The company did not explicitly disaggregate these figures during the presentation.

Orbital Infrastructure and Lunar Ambitions

The meeting concluded with a discussion of future infrastructure that aligns with Musk's broader aerospace interests. Despite the immense logistical and technical hurdles, the company is exploring the concept of space-based data centers. This approach would theoretically allow for computing clusters that operate independently of terrestrial energy constraints.

Musk elaborated on a vision for a manufacturing facility located on the Moon, tasked with producing AI satellites. To deploy these units, he proposed the use of a lunar mass driver, an electromagnetic launch system that functions similarly to a catapult. The theoretical goal of such infrastructure would be to launch orbital clusters capable of harvesting a substantial percentage of the sun's energy output, potentially scaling the system to intergalactic levels.

"It is difficult to imagine what an intelligence of that scale would think about, but it is going to be incredibly exciting to see it happen," Musk remarked.

While the timeline for such extraterrestrial developments remains undefined, the release of this meeting footage serves as a clear signal that xAI intends to pursue a development trajectory that is deeply integrated with space exploration hardware, distinguishing its long-term strategy from other competitors in the generative AI sector.
